چکیده

A con-current multiscale non-equilibrium molecular dynamics is proposed. The notion of multiscale canonical element ensemble is put forth, which enables us to employ the coarse grain field as a heat bath, and it is accomplished by using a distributed Nośe–Hoover thermostat network. In doing so, it guarantees that the non-equilibrium molecular dynamics returns to a canonical equilibrium state when external disturbances vanish, which may have not been the case for the non-equilibrium molecular dynamics in the literature. We have shown that the non-equilibrium distribution function is canonical. 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

On multiscale non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations

In this work, we set forth a multiscale non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (MS-NEMD) model. The main objectives of MS-NEMD model are: (1) establishing a rigorous NEMD that provides direct threedimensional simulations of thermal–mechanical motions at atomistic scale, and (2) providing a general computational paradigm for non-equilibrium multiscale simulations. The proposed MS-NEMD combines a coa...

A non-equilibrium multiscale simulation of shock wave propagation

A novel non-equilibrium multiscale dynamics (NEMSD) is proposed to simulate non-equilibrium thermal–mechanical processes. The model couples coarse-grain thermodynamics with a fine scale molecular dynamics. A Distributed Nośe-Hoover Thermostat Network is used, which regulates the temperature in each coarse scale Voronoi cell according to the finite element (FE) nodal temperature. The atoms in ea...

A Coupled Model for Radiative Transfer: Doppler Effects, Equilibrium, and Nonequilibrium Diffusion Asymptotics

This paper is devoted to the asymptotic analysis of a coupled model arising in radiative transfer. The model consists of a kinetic equation satisfied by the specific intensity of radiation coupled to a diffusion equation satisfied by the material temperature. The interaction terms take into account both scattering and absorption/emission phenomena, as well as Doppler corrections. Two asymptotic...

Multiscale methods for mechanical science of complex materials: Bridging from quantum to stochastic multiresolution continuum

Recent development in the multiscale method based on the bridging scale concept is presented with an emphasis on complex material systems. The bridging scale method (BSM) was originally proposed by Wagner and Liu (J. Comput. Phys. 2003; 190:249–274) as an effective way of treating the interface in coupled atomistic/continuum simulation. Since its publication, the BSM has become a very useful pa...

A FEM Multiscale Homogenization Procedure using Nanoindentation for High Performance Concrete

This paper aims to develop a numerical multiscale homogenization method for prediction of elasto-viscoplastic properties of a high performance concrete (HPC). The homogenization procedure is separated into two-levels according to the microstructure of the HPC: the mortar or matrix level and the concrete level. The elasto-viscoplastic behavior of individual microstructural phases of the matrix a...
